Account information: Email address, username (your codename), city, and language when you create an account.
Location data: Your GPS location is used during an active case only — to unlock clues when you reach a scene, and to run Opposition encounters (patrols and watchers), which are computed entirely on your device. While a case is live, your approximate position is also transmitted to mission control, where it is visible to game administrators only — never to other players. Your coordinates are additionally used on-device to compute local sunset time for the app's day/night theme; that calculation never leaves your phone and is not stored.
Game progress: Case completions, per-clue times, ink ledger, commendations, service rank, and leaderboard entries.
Push notifications: If you opt in to HQ transmissions, a push token is stored on your profile so we can notify you when a new case goes live. You can opt out at any time in your device settings.
Scene reports: If you file a "scene compromised" report, we store your codename, the case, the clue, and your distance from the scene so administrators can review it.
Your data is used solely to operate the game — unlocking clues, running timers and leaderboards, powering the administrators' live operations dashboard, and sending case notifications you opted into. We do not sell data, run ads, or use third-party analytics.
Other players see your codename, rank, commendations, and case progress on leaderboards and the operatives board. They never see your location, position, or distance.
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) behind security rules: live location telemetry is readable only by the game's administrator account; your progress is accessible only to you and administrators; leaderboard completions are write-once and cannot be altered.
ChaseDown uses Google Firebase for authentication and data storage, Google Maps for map display, Expo for push notification delivery, and Anthropic Claude for AI-assisted case authoring in the admin panel. No player data is sent to the AI service.
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app: Profile → Preferences → Delete Account. This erases your profile, case progress, location telemetry, and leaderboard times, and cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by contacting us at privacy@chasedown.app.
